Memories

Today I´d like to talk to you about memory. I´ve been having a very interesting experience with mine and I´d like to share it with you.
Memory is oh so funny. It´s amazing how our brains are capable of selecting exactly what to remember; or at least make it seem that way to us. And it´s something to wonder about, how we re-create our memories every time we need them. And I say re-create because sometimes I believe that we create the memories we store right now, seeing only what we think is possible and want to see. In the same line of thought, it´s quick to assume that memories are so easily induced to to remembering what might have never actually happened!
On the other hand, they are the most precious "thing" we could possibly have. For our memories make us who we are. Some of them are painful, some are joyful, but they´re ours. And I couldn´t think of any good reasons to want to erase any of them. At least not consciously, anyways.
Somehow, in the connections of our neuron-nets in the depth of our brains, I don´t think we ever really forget anything, no matter how much we try to. I guess, one way or another, the brain makes us remember, even if as a mere reflection of what happened previously on our future actions and behaviors - rational or not.
Memory is subjective and subdued to a million different influences. Nonetheless, it´s our most precious gift. And, in the end, it´s all we ever own. Or loose.
